The Orchard House Hotel
Orchard House has been a hotel for over 100 years. The older part of the house is believed to be about 194 years old with the entrance and lounge area about 150 years old. Parts of the foundations of the house are believed to be from a much earlier date. The dado rails in the bar are ornate which is victorian and those on the staircase are plain which is regency. When decorating one of our rooms, we discovered an original fireplace and found out that the grate stone is made from a memorial stone, dated 1821!
Orchard House is Grade 2 listed and over the past years, we have renovated the rooms and installed 8 new bathrooms, a new plumbing system and replaced all the wooden windows
All our rooms are furnished with genuine antiques from the original period of the hotel, all restored by Fairford Barn Antiques – including our 4 poster beds, which are hand carved and made in the style of the period of the house.
Even the Rayburn in the kitchen (nicknamed Bessie), is over 90 years old and is an original Rayburn. She was coal and wood-fired but has been converted to oil and still cooks breakfasts perfectly!
